Understanding the Data Governance Operating Model starts with four key structural concepts, as depicted in the following diagram:

In addition to this, we devise a number of Organization Concepts: to support the people structures of the Data Governance Operating Model:

Furthermore, there are Execution and Monitoring Concepts to support the executional aspects of the Operating Model:

 

 

By assigning all assets to a particular Asset Type, relating them to one another with different Relation Types, and organize them in Communities and Domains, we achieve traceability. An example of traceability is shown in the diagram below:
